Why this exists
Your interview is one afternoon that decides where the next several years of your training happen, and the prep for it is expensive ($200 to $500 or more per session with a coach), hard to schedule, or simply unavailable where you live. Most applicants get two or three mock interviews before the real thing. That is not enough repetitions to be comfortable in the chair.
The gap does not close after med school. If you are applying to residency, you face the same coaching shortage. If you are sitting the CCFP SOO, you need someone across the table willing to play the patient for 15 minutes, over and over, and that person is nearly impossible to book on demand.

High-stakes oral exam prep is broken
Coaching is expensive and inequitable
Professional mock interviews and SOO coaching cost $200 to $500 or more per session. If that is out of reach, you walk in cold while other candidates walk in rehearsed, and the gap shows in the first two minutes. Strong applicants get filtered out on their ability to pay for practice rather than their ability to do the job.
Hard to schedule
Finding a willing mock interviewer or preceptor on short notice, on your schedule, is nearly impossible. The volume you need to get comfortable simply is not available to book.
Too few reps
Most candidates complete only 2 or 3 full mock sessions before the real thing. Three attempts will not make you comfortable under pressure, and they leave no room to drill the specific areas you already know are weak.

Simulated Office Oral practice for CCFP candidates. You play the doctor in a 15-minute video patient encounter, scored against the official CFPC marking scheme: 6 marking boxes containing 11 scored components, 6 points each, 66 maximum.
Formats and stages
Medical school and residency interviews come in two formats: MMI, a series of short timed stations, and traditional / panel, one longer conversation that may be one-on-one or in front of a panel of two to four interviewers at once. Behavioural questions are a style of question that turns up in both, not a third format.
Which format you face depends on the program, not the stage of training, so you are not asked to choose between them here. Medical school interviews and residency interviews each cover both formats, and you can practice either or both with the same package. The CCFP SOO is the third product line because it is a different exam: a 15-minute patient encounter with its own structure and its own marking scheme.
