About WhiteCoat Prep
We built the practice tool we wish we’d had at every stage of medical training.
Why we built this
We went through the medical school application process and discovered something frustrating: high-stakes interview prep is either expensive ($200–500+ per session with a coach), hard to schedule, or just not available. Most applicants get maybe 2–3 mock interviews before the real thing. That’s not enough.
And the gap doesn’t close after med school. Residency applicants face the same coaching shortage. CCFP candidates studying for SOOs need a real human across the table — and finding one is nearly impossible at scale.
So we built WhiteCoat Prep. Real-time AI practice that listens, responds, and gives you the volume of reps you can’t get from a busy preceptor’s calendar. Three distinct products for three high-stakes moments in a medical career.
What we cover
Three distinct exam types, each with its own content and scoring rubric, all built around the same realistic video encounter format.
Medical School Interviews
Practice for Canadian and US medical school admissions interviews. Covers MMI and traditional one-on-one formats across ethical, teamwork, communication, and policy categories.
Residency Interviews
Practice for CaRMS, ERAS, and NRMP residency interviews across Canada and the US. Covers MMI, traditional, and behavioural question types with specialty-tagged question banks.
CCFP SOO Practice
Simulated Office Oral practice for CCFP candidates. You play the doctor in a 15-minute video patient encounter, scored against the official 11-component CFPC marking scheme.
Formats and stages
Medical school and residency interviews come in two main formats: MMI (multiple short stations) and traditional (one longer one-on-one interview). The format you face depends on the program, not the stage. Our medical school and residency products support both, so you can pick whichever your target programs use, or practice both. The CCFP SOO is a separate exam with its own structure.
High-stakes oral exam prep is broken
Coaching is expensive and inequitable
Professional mock interviews and SOO coaching cost $200 to $500 or more per session. For applicants from backgrounds that medicine needs more of, that’s the difference between getting structured prep and going in cold. Talented people get filtered out before they ever sit down with an interviewer, and that’s not how we build a representative profession.
Hard to schedule
Finding a willing mock interviewer or preceptor on short notice, on your schedule, is nearly impossible. The volume you need just doesn’t exist.
Too few reps
Most candidates complete only 2 or 3 full mock sessions before the real thing. That’s not enough to develop genuine comfort under pressure or to drill the specific areas you know are weak.
Built like a practice tool, not a chatbot.
An interviewer that actually listens
The interviewer follows up based on what you actually said. If you give a surface-level answer, it probes deeper. If you miss a perspective, it asks about it. Not a script, not canned questions, a real conversation.
Video first, not audio
Real eye contact, facial cues, and body language, matching the actual virtual interview and SOO formats. The video itself feeds into your post-encounter feedback so you get observations on tone, pacing, and presence, not just what you said.
Structured feedback on your transcript
Every session ends with a full transcript and a structured, automated analysis grounded in the real rubrics, not vague encouragement. We highlight specific moments in your answer and connect them to the rubric categories examiners actually score on. CCFP SOOs are scored against the official 11-component CFPC framework.
Reps on your schedule
No coordinating calendars. No paying $300 a session. Practice at 11pm before bed if that’s when you have 30 minutes.
