Practice CCFP SOOs with a video patient encounter.
The AI plays the patient. You play the doctor. Walk through a full 15-minute Simulated Office Oral — doorway prompt, hidden second issue, management plan — and get back a structured report scored against the official CFPC 11-component rubric.
One free full-length demo encounter. No card required. 3-month pass, one-time payment.

Built for the real exam, not a generic chatbot.
Live video, not audio
Real eye contact, facial cues, and body language — matching the actual virtual SOO exam. Audio-only practice misses the most important half of the encounter.
80+ stations at launch
Built around the CFPC priority topics most commonly tested on SOOs: chronic disease, mental health, women’s health, geriatrics, and complex psychosocial scenarios. Random selection avoids repeats.
Automated CFPC-aligned feedback
Your encounter is scored across the official 11-component rubric: history coverage, illness experience, social context, management, finding common ground, and interview process. Specific verbal and non-verbal observations, not generic encouragement.
Upload your own cases
Bring any SOO case you’ve authored or want to practice. We turn it into an interactive video patient and never store the file after parsing.
Mirrors the real CCFP exam timing.
You see the doorway, you walk in, you have 15 minutes.
Read the doorway prompt
You get 1 minute at the door to read the patient card and form your approach — the same window you get on the real exam.
Run the 15-minute encounter
Walk into the video encounter with the patient. Take a focused history, uncover the hidden second issue, explore the social context, and negotiate a management plan. The patient flags the second issue around the 5-minute mark if you haven’t found it yet, and stops volunteering new information at 12 minutes.
Get an automated CFPC-style report
Within ~90 seconds you get a Superior / Certificant / Non-Certificant rating on each of the 11 components, specific feedback grounded in your transcript, and a side-by-side comparison with the expected approach.
Scored on what the real examiners look for
The CCFP SOO is scored using 6 marking boxes containing 11 individual components. Each is graded on a 3-level scale published by the CFPC.
Goes beyond competent. Actively explores the illness experience with verbal and non-verbal skill, and purposefully involves the patient in the plan.
The pass standard. Inquires appropriately, demonstrates flexibility, and arrives at a satisfactory understanding of the patient.
Below the pass mark. Often signals checklist-style questioning, missed cues, or failing to involve the patient in management.

Frequently asked questions
Is this like the real CCFP SOO exam? ▾
Yes — we mirror the official format: a 1-minute doorway prompt, a 15-minute encounter, two clinical problems (one often hidden in the social context), and a final management phase. Scoring follows the official CFPC 11-component rubric.
What does S/C/N mean? ▾
These are the official CFPC examiner ratings: S = Superior Certificant (above the pass standard), C = Certificant (at the pass standard), and N = Non-Certificant (below the pass standard). Each of the 11 SOO components is rated independently using this scale.
How does the video patient work? ▾
A realistic video patient is driven by a structured case script. The patient answers your history questions, reveals information progressively (it won't volunteer the full story upfront), and flags the second issue around the 5-minute mark if you haven't uncovered it. At the 12-minute mark the patient stops volunteering new information so you can move into management.
How is the scoring actually done? ▾
After each encounter your transcript is scored by an automated system against the case-specific rubric and the verbatim CFPC criteria for each component. The report covers verbal performance (history coverage, structure, finding common ground) and non-verbal cues picked up from the conversation flow (rote vs. conversational questioning, listening behaviour, use of silence). Reports come back in about 90 seconds.
Will this replace working with a real preceptor? ▾
No, and we don't claim to. This is a practice tool, not an exam simulator. Mock SOOs with experienced preceptors are still the gold standard. We give you reps in between those mocks, the kind of volume you can’t get from scheduling preceptors one at a time.
Can I upload my own cases? ▾
Yes — active pass holders can upload a SOO case PDF (including ones from your residency program) and we'll parse it into an interactive video patient you can practice against. Your uploaded cases stay private to you.
How many stations are there? ▾
We're launching with 80+ stations covering the CFPC priority topics most commonly tested on SOOs — chronic disease management, mental health, women's health, pediatrics, geriatrics, and complex psychosocial scenarios. Procedural and acute resuscitation topics are deliberately excluded since they don't translate well to a video conversation. Random selection avoids repeating stations you've already practiced.
Are you affiliated with the CFPC? ▾
No. We're an independent practice tool. The 6 marking boxes, 11 scored components, and S/C/N rating system are the publicly published CFPC framework, used here with attribution. WhiteCoat Prep is not affiliated with or endorsed by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
What about the Spring vs Fall exam — do you have time-limited cohorts? ▾
No cohorts. The 3-month season pass can be purchased any time and begins the moment you buy it. Most candidates start about 1–3 months out from their sitting (April or October), so one pass typically covers the whole prep cycle.
What happens after 3 months or 50 encounters? ▾
Your pass ends when either limit is hit, with no auto-renewal. If you need more time or more encounters, just buy another pass.
